Work Attendance and Punctuality
Many of us are good when it comes to using our employee benefits from vacation leaves, sick leaves and even grace periods. After all, these benefits were given for use according to needs. It would be a waste if these benefits weren’t utilized – right?
Not exactly. Employee benefits are meant to provide convenience for workers. They’re not meant to be abused. A sick leave is not an “extended vacation leave.” With good alibis to provide seemingly real work excuses, you’ve just given yourself some free time without technically breaking the rules of your company. But handing out believable work excuse forms won’t change the fact that you will still be compromising your position as a worker.
Like your performance, attendance and punctuality add to your reputation. If your company suddenly has to downsize, having good-to-perfect attendance may help you keep your job. Who do you think the company will favor more: the one who maxed out all possible leave benefits or the person who had more working days?
In addition, maxing out your sick leaves when you please may also compromise you when you do face a health emergency. It’s always best to fill out work excuse forms only when you have real work excuses.
Remember, showing your company that you value your work makes your company value you.
